ALLI CONRAD

Hello Next Up Collector Community!

I am unbelievably excited to introduce you to artist Alli Conrad. Alli (b. 1995) is based out of Los Angeles and is completing her RAMA Residency in Lisbon currently (2022). As described by Alli on her website, her work “actively explores historic eras in varied forms including: paintings, drawings and large scale murals through the lens of modern society. Her body of work actively uses both female and male subjects incorporating a blend of pop culture and contemporary life to represent identity, time and culture - prizing color and symbolism to embody emotion and mood.”

I personally fell in love with Alli’s works because of their whimsical nature, dialogue between texture, color, and pattern, and the way in which her social media captures the essence of her artistic identity through aesthetically beautiful and curated images of both art and life. The deep hues of her works, offset by the natural environments in which they are placed, truly highly the grandeur surrounding Alli’s playful pieces. One may easily witness firsthand the curious yet carefully executed works below.

When I asked Alli about advice she may have for a young or new art collector, she stated the following:

My advice to a young or new art collector is trust your gut. If you are truly a patron of the arts, your first instinct to purchase a work is due to an emotional or intuitive feeling and connection. If you are drawn to a piece of work due to its monetary value or status, you have completely missed the point of art. Art is a feeling. A connection. A moment. An experience. A mark in time. If you find yourself drawn to an artist or a piece, follow that instinct. Don’t be shy to reach out to the artist to get to understand them, their process, and their works. Ask away! I don't think there is a right or wrong way to get into collecting...but just to simply buy what you want but also to showcase your purchases to advocate artists, educate the community, and share with others.
